Injunction against Allente for misleading telemarketing
The telemarketers said that the company represented the consumers’ existing provider, or that they had a collaboration. The called individuals were also promised cheaper subscriptions to streaming services than what they later received.
The Swedish Consumer Ombudsman (KO) has now banned Allente’s marketing practices where sales representatives are unclear about which company is calling and attempt to conceal the fact that the purpose of the call is to sell a service. The company must be more transparent about who is calling and that they are seeking to sell a subscription.
Complaints lodged against the company also show that customers have found it difficult to understand the price of the service and that sales representatives have not been truthful about the minimum contract period. On these points as well, KO requires the company to provide clearer information.
