I can’t get a fibre connection where I live – what can I do?
There is no obligation for any operator to offer a fiber connection. There is also no regulation of the price if you are offered such a connection.
You can therefore ask different fiber providers if they want to offer you a fiber connection and how much it might cost. You can also investigate if there are alternative technologies to get broadband.
Development and expansion are progressing rapidly, and the government’s broadband strategy has high goals. For example, the level for basic internet (functional access to the internet as it is called in the law) was raised from 1 Mbit/s to 10 Mbit/s on March 1, 2018. The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority has been tasked with ensuring that households and businesses lacking access to telephony and basic internet receive it. PTS is taking several measures to ensure that everyone who requests 10 Mbit/s also gets it.
