Call credit, prepaid

A call credit is an amount you pay to the operator to be able to make calls with a prepaid phone. When the money runs out, you can only call emergency numbers, for example. How quickly the credit runs out depends on the type of calls you make; international calls and premium calls are significantly more expensive than regular calls. It is common for the operator to require you to top up your prepaid card at regular intervals even if you have money left. This is so they can remove prepaid cards that are not used. This also means that if you do not top up according to the operator’s requirements, you may lose your number linked to the prepaid card.
