TV4 leaves the terrestrial network
From January 1, 2026, TV4 will stop broadcasting through the terrestrial network. The focus will instead be entirely on the streaming service TV4 Play. Do you watch TV4 through the terrestrial network? Here’s how the change affects you.
The viewers who receive their TV distribution via a TV distributor or where TV is included in the rent are not affected by TV4 leaving the terrestrial network. However, if as a viewer you receive your signals directly from an antenna on the roof, you need to take action and make some choices to continue watching TV4 from the turn of the year.
How do I know if I watch TV via the terrestrial network?
It can be a bit tricky to know how you receive your signal to your TV, but the following is a good guide:
- If you live in a multi-family house, you usually receive the TV signal via the property owner. You will not need to do anything. It is good to know that if the property owner receives the signals via the terrestrial network, they will need to arrange another solution before the turn of the year.
- If you have access to more channels than TV4 and SVT, then you do not receive the TV signal via the terrestrial network and you will not need to do anything.
- If you live in a villa, small house, or cottage and have a “fork antenna” on the roof and can only watch SVT and TV4. Then you probably receive your TV signal via the terrestrial network and need to take action within the next four months.
TV distributors are free to set their own prices for end customers. In most cases, TV4 is offered in all available TV packages via the distributors, and TV4, Sjuan, and TV12 are included as part of the basic packages distributed to multi-family houses.
