Frequently asked questions

What is a physical SIM card and an eSIM?

A physical SIM card is a small plastic chip with an embedded chip that is inserted into your mobile phone. It functions as a key to connect the phone to the mobile network and enables calls, SMS, and browsing. SIM stands for “Subscriber Identity Module,” and the card contains information that identifies you as a user and subscriber with your operator.

An eSIM, on the other hand, is a digital version of the physical SIM card that is built directly into your device, such as a mobile phone, tablet, or smartwatch. It eliminates the need for a physical card and can be activated by downloading the operator’s information. eSIM offers the same functions as a traditional SIM card but makes it easier to switch mobile operators or subscriptions because it does not require physical handling.
